Our Core Values
Discipleship: At the foundation of al that we do, we believe that the best example that we can follow was established by Jesus and given to us in The Great Commission, make disciples. This effort is a one on one, nine month, discipleship program for the entry level. Continuing, those discipled can continue in leadership training for up to seven years. This is the continuation of a program began in Kenya under Harvest Heralds with Larry Neihmeyer. Larry wrote the curriculum we that use. When someone has completed the nine month program, they are encouraged to begin maturing through discipling someone else. You never stop discipling no matter your leadership position.
Maturity of Leadership: We teach that bible knowledge and understanding of the scripture is essential for mature leadership. We also teach that this is an ongoing process. Through accountability established in the discipleship program, leadership relationships are built leading to elders and deacons, all of whom could fill the position of minister for a church plant.
Do not create Unhealthy Dependency: Be dependent on God, not man. Rule one that we teach is that any dependency which comes from man is tainted. It requires a dependency on God above all. If funds are not strategically used, local personnel not encouraged to mature, dependency on foreign funds can and will take place. Instead of allowing them to continue thinking that they do not have the leadership and funds to do what the Lord leads them to do, we help them walk through the process which will show them how God has given them all that they need in order to accomplish that which He has laid on their hearts.
Community based and focused projects: Our efforts in discipleship are focused mainly on the individual and the church. Through Community Health Evangelism we teach how God does not just want a healthy, thriving Church, but that he wants them to be salt and light as well. This program helps concerned Christians begin to unite their communities and begin to take God’s blessings to their communities, market places, and leadership.
Using local resources above anything else: This Ideal goes hand in hand with not creating dependencies. We believe that because of outside funding the local resources that are available go to waste 99.9% of the time. Again through both the discipleship and Community Health Evangelism programs we teach how to utilize their local resources, funds, and manpower to the Glory of God alone.
Ownership of Churches and Projects must be Local: Dignity and Pride are the most commonly stolen commodity in Africa. We put our name on things. We put our Logo on things. We use our funds, plans, and manpower to build things, and then tell them that it belongs to them. In Tanzania there is a word in Kiswahili that has two meanings, ‘bure’ Bure means free. But it also means useless or pointless. King David in the Old Testament said it best, “I will not give to my lord that which I have received for free.” David understood this concept. Service to the Lord must cost us something. When we steal away ownership, offering them something for free, we tell them that what they would have to give is worth nothing, and it is useless. Step one of projects is teaching them that we will not tae ownership of that which is theirs.
